Rangers Score 6 Runs in 6th Inning to Beat Mavericks 7-6
Michael Branche (Daytona State College) started the game for the Mavs and pitched very well until he ran into some trouble in the 6th inning. The Rangers piled on 6 runs in the 6th inning to take the lead 7-6, after trailing 6-1. Matthew Majewski (Northwood Univ.) got the scoring started with an RBI single that drove in Shane Swanson (Daytona State College), then Lorenzo Boden (Embry Riddle Aero. Univ.) topped it off with a 2-run triple and would later score on a throwing error. The Mavs scored 2 runs in the 4th inning and 3 runs in the 5th inning but that wasn’t enough to pull out the victory over the Rangers. Cameron Davis (Jeff Davis C.C.) finished the day 3-for3, while Luke Hoyl (Navarro C.C.), Bobby Turnapoll (IMG Academy) and Dexter Stewart (G.B. National Team) all recorded 1 RBI. Matt Cohick (Northwood Univ.) started the game for the Rangers, throwing 4 innings and allowing 4 hits and Blake Summers (Daytona State College) appeared in relief with 4 K’s through 3 innings.
Falcons Soar to Another Victory, Beating Mustangs 3-1
Runs were hard to come by between the Mustangs and Falcons Thursday afternoon. Both of the starting pitchers got off to stellar starts until Jordan Edmonds (G.B. National Team) allowed 1 run to the Falcons in the 5th inning. Hunter Brannan (Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C.) knocked in Malik Fogg (Tompkins Courtland College) from 3rd on an RBI single. Brannan also crushed a triple in the 3rd inning, but was left stranded on 3rd. The Falcons threatened to score in the 2nd inning as well, after a triple by Sjaghbar Martis (Monroe C.C.) but left him standing on 3rd base. Falcons would then go on to score 2 more runs in the 6th inning, one coming from an RBI single from Fogg. Edmonds would finish the day recording 9 fly ball outs, allowing 5 hits and 1 run through 5 innings. Luke Heyer (College of Central Florida) had another great outing for the Falcons, allowing 1 run and racking up 7 K’s through 7 complete innings. The Mustangs scored their only run in the 7th inning from Joe Boyd’s (Palm Beach State) double, scoring Mitch Reeves (High Point Univ.) from 1st base. Boyd went 3-for-3 with 1 RBI and Reeves finished 2-for-3 at the plate.
