Falcons Come From Behind to Beat the Mustangs in Walk-Off Style, 9-8
Falcons gained an early lead on the 2nd place Mustangs by scoring 1 run in the 1st inning and tacked on 3 more runs in the 4th inning. The Falcons starter, Kevin Vlatos (Webber Int. Univ.) didn’t give up a run until the 4th inning, when the Mustangs lead off with a solo home-run crushed by Mitch Reeves (High Point Univ.) off the left field foul pole. Joe Uccello (Southern Connecticut St.) followed with a single driving in 2 runs to give the Stangs a 5-4 lead headed into the 5th inning. Arturo Tabales (Polk St. C.C.) would add to the Stangs lead, with a double that drove in 2 runs. The Falcons would match that with 2 runs of their own in the 5th inning to cut the defecit down to 7-5. Reeves had an RBI triple in the 7th inning, which left him a double shy of the cycle. The falcons would then load the bases up in the bottom half of the inning and scored 1 run off a single from Hunter Brannan (Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C.) to cut the lead to 1. Malik Fogg (Tompkins Cortland C.C.) stepped to the plate next and got hit by a pitch to tie the game at 8. Then Aaron Haughton (USC Upstate) drove in the game winning run with a bloop single to right field to give the Falcons the win.
Rangers Collect Their 2nd Win in a Row as They Beat the Mavs, 11-0.
Rangers put the game out early with 8 runs in the first 2 innings. 8 different Rangers scored a run in Friday’s match against the Mavs and they drew a total of 8 walks in the first 2 innings as well. Zach Bailey (South Florida St.), the Rangers Starter, took a no-hitter into the 5th inning until Dexter Stewart (G.B. Nat. Team) broke it up with a single to left field. Bailey would finish only allowing 2 hits in 6 innings, with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. The Rangers were able to close out the game early in the 6th inning due to the run rule, after Jammer Strickland (Cleveland St.) doubled in 2 runs and Jeff Stabe (Warner Univ.) drove in another run to beat the Mavericks, 11-0.
