Thompson and Rodgers Head to Nichols College

Nichols College will be glad to announce that both league all-star defensemen Cody Rodgers and Brien Thompson will play for the Bison next fall.  The Bison are coming off of a tremendous season where they took the conference title and made it to the National Tournament.

Thompson came to the Eels two seasons ago, help leading the organization to back to back division titles. “Brien is what every organization looks for when building their team.  A true leader on the ice. Very responsible in his own end and a cannon of a shot,” says General Manager Scarpaci. “I don’t know many defenseman his size that can hit as hard as he can either.  He is going to have an excellent college career.  Was a great Eel and represented us well.”

Rodgers came to the Eels this fall after having an already established junior career.  Doing time in the NAHL, Cody needed a more stable environment that would allow him to showcase his elite offensive defenseman skill skill. “I think he might have been the best pure offensive defenseman in the whole USPHL, that includes the Premier,” says Scarpaci. “An elite first passer, elusive with the puck and can get shots through regularly.  He’s going to make the Bison’s power play a real threat.”
