A Farewell Tribute To Dillion Simmons By His Fellow Hockey Players Florida Eels and Florida Everblades Alike ... Today we were simply loving caring and supportive friends and teammates.

Yesterday was a very hard day for all of us. For Denise, Shawn, and Cody we can never imagine what they are going through. Suffering such a loss of their beloved son and brother at the age of 15 is completely unimaginable. During the last 2 years of his life Dillon had an ever lasting and profound impact on all of us. He showed us what true love, strength and determination is all about. One can only reflect on your own self and ask what is truly important right now.

It was a beautiful ceremony and indeed a celebration of Dillon’s life. So many families, friends and players came to pay their final respects. It was funny, there wasn’t a dry eye in the church but you also left with a smile,  a warm feeling about Dillon, his family and all of the good times Dillon experienced throughout his short life.

As the Hockey Director of the Florida Eels, I was very proud of my players and the Everblade players who came to pay their final tribute to one of their own. It was a somber and goose bump moment that moved everyone when we witnessed first hand the station of players in their Eels and Everblade white jerseys throughout the church. But when the 4 Eel and 4 Everblade players were pallbearers carrying Dillon Simmons through the church and through the stationed line of white jerseys your heart indeed broke. I was never so proud of the conduct, dignity and everlasting support and respect all of the hockey players demonstrated.

The joint team of Eels /Everblades and his Lacrosse Gorillas were like soldiers in arms giving a farewell salute to our fallen angel.  It did not matter for this day whether you were an Eel or Blade we were all one.  Dillon’s friends, Dillon’s teammates, Dillon’s extended family.

Let this camaraderie live on, as a token of sportsmanship and God’s will.

Dillon we will all miss you dearly but you will never be forgotten. We all understand more today than ever before what you meant when you said  “I Got This”

Yes you do!

May you rest in peace on earth but we all know you will be sitting at the right hand of God and his son Jesus looking after all of us so humble on earth.
