A superb effort by Kris Paulino hoisted the Alaska Goldpanners (21-6) to a 26-7 win over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots (17-13) on Saturday at Growden Memorial Park.
Paulino racked up nine RBIs on four hits for the Alaska Goldpanners. He singled in the first inning, homered in the second innings, and doubled in the sixth inning.
The biggest inning for the Alaska Goldpanners was the second. The Alaska Goldpanners' bats caught fire leading to 19 runs. The Alaska Goldpanners scored in the second on an RBI single by Eric Hutting, an RBI single by Hutting, an RBI single by Ryan Clark, a home run by Paulino, a solo home run by Cody Nulph, a two-run home run by Tanner Pinkston, a solo home run by Hunter Villanueva, a home run by Paulino, a two-run double by Jacob Hayes, and a two-run single by Hutting.
The Anchorage Glacier Pilots had no answer for Torgen Soderlund, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Soderlund gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his three innings of work.
It was a good day at the plate for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots' Ryan Dobson. Dobson went 3-5 and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth and ninth innings.
Joel Belk recorded his fourth win for the Alaska Goldpanners even though he allowed six runs over six innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered 10 hits.
Drew Morovick (1-2) took the loss for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots. He allowed seven runs in one inning, walked one and struck out none.
The Alaska Goldpanners hammered the Anchorage Glacier Pilots pitching as eight hitters had a field day, combining for 25 hits, 24 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
