Lima's Nick Kolze named GLSCL Pitcher of the Week

GLSCL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - July 7, 2025

Nick Kolze - Lima Locos - Purdue University

Nick Kolze pitched a seven-inning complete game during a double header against the Muskegon Clippers on July 3. Kolze gave up just one runs on only one hit allowing three walks and notching five strikeouts. The Locos, who won the game 4-1, boasts the best record in the GLSCL ending the week at 18-8.

 

On the season, Kolze lowered his ERA to 1.37 giving up just three earned runs in 19.2 innings or work. Kolze’s record on the season improved to 3-0 striking out 19 batters while walking just three during his four appearances of the summer.

 

The Romeoville, Illinois naive transferred to Purdue for Heartland Junior College playing his first season for the Boilermakers this past spring. Kolze threw 9.1 innings in nine appearances for Purdue. Kolze spent the his freshman season in 2023 playing at Xavier University.

 

 

HONORABLE MENTION - Pitcher of the Week

 

Michael Bilo - Hamilton Joes - George Mason University

Michael Bilo nearly missed out on winning his second Pitcher of the Week recognition of the season. Bilo, the Week 2 winner of the award, improved his record to 4-1 on the season after going seven innings on July 3 against the Grand Lake Mariners. He gave up just one run on six hits registering five strikeouts and not allowing a walk. Bilo leads the GLSCL with a 0.98 ERA and is tied for most wins with four.

 

 

Alex Dicke - Grand Lake Mariners - Spring Hill College

Alex Dicke was the first GLSCL pitcher to throw a nine-inning complete game in a 4-3 loss to the Xenia Scouts on July 5. Dicke struck out eight batters giving up three earned runs. The 6’5” right hander is in his second season with the Mariners leading the pitching staff with 17 strikeouts.

 

 

Braxton Betancourt - Flag City Sluggers - Olney Central College

Braxton Betancourt went six innings for the Sluggers with five strikeouts giving up two earned runs on five hits and did not allow a walk against the Lima Locos on July 6. Betancourt did not factor in the decision after the Locos won the game 5-4 on a walk off sacrifice fly.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 7 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
