Lima's Charlie Vercruysse named GLSCL Player of the Week

GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - July 7, 2025

 

Charlie Vercruysse - Lima Locos - Purdue University commit

Charlie Vercruysse went 14-for-27 at the plate for a .519 batting average playing in all six games during the week for the Locos. Vercruysse had multi-hit games in five of those game including racking up three hits in a game three different times. He also drove in seven RBIs for the week and scored the game-winning run capping off the week in Lima’s 5-4 walk off victory on Sunday over the Flag City Sluggers.

 

Vercruysse is hitting for a .364 batting average on the season with 21 RBI’s and 17 runs scored. He is currently third in the GLSCL in batting average and fifth in RBIs.

 

The Bloomington, Illinois native did not see any action as a freshman this past spring at the University of Notre Dame. He entered the transfer portal and recently announced that he is committed to playing next season at Purdue University.

 

 

HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week

 

Wyatt Epple - Michigan Monarchs - Davenport University 

Wyatt Epple went 11-for-22 for a .500 batting average over the course of five games for the Monarchs. As the leadoff hitter, Epple scored nine runs driving in four RBIs and hit four doubles. He had four multi-hit games with three hits in each of the last two games of the week against the Muskegon Clippers.

 

 

Johnathan Jackson - Xenia Scouts - Harding University

Johnathan Jackson went 7-for-15 with a .466 batting average in just four games played during the week. Jackson scored five runs and stole five bases with two RBIs. He was 4-for-5 with three stolen bases on July 3 against the Southern Ohio Copperheads.

 

 

Ronnie Rowley - Southern Ohio Copperheads - MidAmerica Nazarene University

Ronnie Rowley, who recently announced his commitment to MidAmerica Nazarene University after completing his eligibility at Hocking College, hit .381 this past week for the Copperheads. Rowley went 8-for-21 at the plate driving in five RBIs, scored four runs and stole five bases adding to his GLSCL-high total of 21 steals.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 8 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
