155 Strong: NECBL Players Flood NCAA Baseball Championship Field

Date:  Source: New England Collegiate Baseball League

With 135 NCAA Division I players and 20 more from Division II and III programs suiting up in the NCAA Baseball Championship, the NECBL once again proves it’s a summer home for college baseball’s elite. Representing 22 conferences and all 13 league teams, this year’s incoming class is stacked with high-quality talent which is headlined by 23 tournament players on the two-time defending champion Newport Gulls. NECBL players are dancing on the national stage before taking the diamonds in New England.

Boasting 135 players in the 2025 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, the NECBL is well represented in the chase in Omaha.

The 64-team field features NECBL players from 22 conferences, with each of the league’s 13 squads sending at least four players. This widespread presence not only reflects the league's growing talent but also provides high-quality Summer baseball for New England area fans. Each of the 135 players, plus 10 from both Division II and Division III, will join their respective NECBL teams following the conclusion of each tournament.

For the Division I regionals, the Power Four is well represented. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is sending 25 of NECBL’s own, while the Southeastern Conference (SEC) sends 17. College baseball’s powerhouse conferences have the two highest NECBL participation rates, as Northeastern University sends 13 to put the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) in third place.

The rest of the talent is spread among the 19 remaining conferences. From just one USC Upstate player in the Big South to nine Central Connecticut State players in the Northeast Conference (NEC), NECBL players are making their mark regardless of team prestige and postseason expectations.

Other schools with high NECBL representation include seven apiece from Stetson and Binghamton and four from Coastal Carolina.

The Newport Gulls 2025 roster will consist of 23 players with postseason appearances. Headlined by six ACC, six SEC, and five Big 12 players, the Gulls soar into the season with the most experience in the league, looking to build off their two championships in as many years.

The North Adams SteepleCats, meanwhile, have four Division I players in the tournament. The SteepleCats’ roster consists of players from traditionally smaller baseball schools, but they’re still getting a playoff appearance from seven Division II and III players, including four from Franklin Pierce in the NE10.

No matter who comes out in the end, the NECBL is excited to support their players in their respective postseason missions. Good luck to all 155 players!
