Gulls Slip Past Navs Tuesday

LYNN, MA - Fresh off their first win of the 2025 season, the Waves traveled to Lynn to face the North Shore Navigators.
In his first appearance of the season, starter Sal Valenzuela (Pima CC) pitched three shutout innings, striking out seven batters.
After a slow start offensively, the Waves erupted in the 3rd inning. Shortstop Greg Pettay (South Alabama) picked up an RBI single, and after his big swing last night, catcher Brandyn Durand (Bryant) added a 2 RBI double, putting the Waves ahead 3-0.
As the offense dried up, Ocean State’s pitching staff continued to dominate. Max Marchetti (Northeastern), Connor Grotyohann (Rutgers), and Ryan McHugh (Harvard) combined for another four shutout innings, striking out six batters.
In the 7th inning, the Waves grabbed some insurance on a 2 RBI double from designated hitter Zach Plesschaert (Fresno State), followed by a sacrifice fly from second baseman Sam Seidel (Bowling Green), extending their lead to 6-0.
Harrison Lollin (Penn State) came on for his season debut, pitching the final two innings with four strikeouts and no runs. Lollin secured a complete game shutout for the Waves’ staff, and their second win of the season.
The Waves, now 2-1 on the year, will host the Bristol Blues tomorrow for their home opener at Old Mountain Field in Wakefield. First pitch: 6:30 PM.
