Tramel, Ciscar Pace Week Eight

From upsets to using heroes, we have seen an outstanding showcase throughout the first half of the collegiate baseball season thus far. Each week produces a new star, and we’ve been thrilled to see the success of our guys in their college seasons. This week, we’re recognizing freshman infielder Braxton Tramel, and freshman pitcher AJ Ciscar for their outstanding weekends.

Earning Rienzi Pasta Player of the Week honors is freshman Braxton Tramel from East Carolina University. Despite getting swept by Florida Atlantic, the Pirate’s spotlight performance came from a rookie. Starting the week off hot in a midweek matchup with Elon, Tramel tallied two hits and a walk, driving in two runs in their 7-5 win over in-state rival. Tramel earned back-to-back homers in the second and third games of the series, and brought in a run in each of the three games.

On the mound, earning Whalers Brewery Pitcher of the Week honors is freshman AJ Ciscar from the University of Miami. Despite their series win at the University of Pittsburgh, Ciscar got the start on Friday night and earned their lone loss of the weekend. Despite the loss, the rookie had the best start of his young career, earning a career-high in innings pitched (5.0) and strikeouts (7). Through five innings, Ciscar only allowed two hits and one walk, to his seven strikeouts. The Hurricanes recovered and won the next two games on the Weekend to return home for an eight-game homestand.

Our guys are crushing it so far and we’re so proud of their accomplishments! We are beyond excited to have them joining us at Old Mountain this summer. For real-time updates on your favorite current and former Waves, follow along on our Instagram and X @OceanStateWaves!
