Now well into the season, the depth of the 2025 Waves roster continues to impress, as two new players stunt in the fourth week of the collegiate season, to earn player of the week honors. On the mound, freshman Jake Cullen earned Whalers Brewing Pitcher of the Week honors, and at the Plate, Sam Seidel earned Rienzi Pasta Player of the Week accolades.

On the defensive side, University of Rhode Island’s Jake Cullen has thoroughly impressed so far in his rookie campaign. In week three with the Rams, Cullen appeared in a midweek matchup with Sacred Heart, where he dominated with seven strikeouts in eleven batters faced across three innings, sacrificing only one hit. Against Eastern Kentucky, Cullen tallied another five innings, earning six strikeouts in five innings, with only one hit. The Westfield, Mass. native earned zero runs and only two hits on the week, earning himself Atlantic 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week accolades.

On the offensive side of play, junior Sam Seidel from Bowling Green State University was explosive at the plate as a catalytic performer for the Falcons. In seventeen plate appearances, Seidel collected five hits and two walks. In their midweek matchup with Dayton, Seidel hit two home runs in three at bats. The Greenwich, Ohio native brought in 11 runs in four games to help his team to a four-win week.

Our guys are crushing it in their young seasons, and we’re so proud of their accomplishments! We are beyond excited to have them joining us at Old Mountain this summer. For real-time updates on your favorite current and former Waves, follow along on our Instagram and X @OceanStateWaves!
