Gulls Slip Past Navs Tuesday

As the calendar starts to turn and the sun reappears, it’s officially starting to feel like baseball season and we’re eagerly anticipating another phenomenal season at Old Mountain! Now three weeks underway in the college baseball season, our players continue to thrive and make each selection more difficult than the one before. This week’s players of the week stood out in dominant fashion, and played major roles within their team’s success that carry far beyond the stat sheet. Earning Rienzi Pasta Player of the Week honors is junior Caden Dulin from the University of Pittsburgh. On the other side of the ball, earning Whalers Brewery Pitcher of the Week honors is senior Marshall Whitmer from Georgetown University.
Starting off hot in the Keystone State, Caden Dulin made appearances in all four matchups for the Pittsburgh Panthers this past weekend in their midweek against Bucknell, and their weekend series at UNC Greensboro. In seventeen recorded at-bats, Dulin touched base nine times on eight hits and one walk. In those eight hits, the junior earned three doubles, and touched home three times. On the week, he batted a 0.471, with eight hits, three runs brought in and three scored runs as the Panthers finished 2-2 on the weekend.
On the mound, Georgetown’s Marshall Whitmer had two dominant performances over the week's stretch; one against George Washingotn in a midweek matchup, and one in a Saturday matinee at Florida State. Against George Washington, Whitmer pitched two innings, allowing one hit, one run and no walks. Carrying that momentum into their weekend matchup with No. 6 Florida State, the South Carolina native pitched for 2 ⅓ innings, allowed three runs and two hits with zero walks in nine batters faced.
We’re proud of our 2025 players and all the contributions they’ve made throughout the young season, and can’t wait to see all else they accomplish! We’re only 91 days away from baseball at Old Mountain Field, and cannot wait to get back. For live updates on your favorite current and former Waves, follow us on Instagram and X @OceanStateWaves !
