Gulls Slip Past Navs Tuesday

With the 2025 season now in full swing, the first two weeks have already delivered a thrilling mix of excitement and upsets across the league. This week’s Players of the Week have already made significant impacts early in the season, and are poised for even greater success as the year unfolds. Earning Whalers Brewery Pitcher of the Week accolades is freshman AJ Ciscar from the University of Miami. On the opposing side of play, junior Kolton Reynolds from Tennessee Wesleyan University.
Earning Whalers Brewery Pitcher of the Week honors, freshman Anthony (AJ) Ciscar has made major contributions to the Miami Hurricanes in his rookie season, already tallying three appearances in their seven games. The Miami native made two appearances this week, pitching one inning against Florida Atlantic, and two against Princeton. Despite their lone season loss to Florida Atlantic, Ciscar faced four batters, striking out one and allowing one hit in their one-run loss. Against Princeton, the rookie threw for two innings, tallying three strikeouts to one walk in seven batters faced. In those two appearances, Ciscar has allowed 0 runs, and boasts a 0.00 earned run average. The Canes swept their weekend series over Princeton, and look ahead to their first road series against the University of Florida to come this weekend.
At the plate, junior Kolton Reynolds had a monster outing in the Bulldogs’ weekend sweep over Columbia International University, and their midweek win over Spartanburg Methodist. Tallying seven hits across eleven plate appearances, Reynolds tallied a homerun in each matchup against the Rams, collected three walks, and brought in eight runs. In addition to a series sweep, the Bulldogs outscored the Rams 47-7 on the weekend. Reynolds now boasts a .405 average with six home runs, 13 RBI’s and 21 runs scored on the season.
