Monsters take game one with win over the Cannons

OXFORD, AL - The Choccolocco Monsters put up three runs in an inning three times on Friday night to win Game One of the Sunbelt Baseball League Semifinal Series 10-0.

The Monsters put up a three spot in the first, third and fifth innings on their way to a seven-inning run rule victory. Mason Walker, Taylor Harris, Andrew Wells and Sebastian Collender all contributed two RBIs in the game as the Monsters offense came alive up and down the order.

Andrew Allen went 5.1 innnings, striking out 10 while walking just one and allowing no rÅuns on four hits for the win. Graham Minor pitched the final 1.2 innings, allowing no runs, walks or hits with three strikeouts.

The two teams go back at it Saturday night in Cartersville for Game Two at 7:05 pm ET. If the Monsters win, they will await the winner of the Gainesville Gol'Diggers vs. Atlanta Crackers series for the SBL Championship. Game Three (if necessary) would be played back in Oxford on Monday night.

The other series between the Gainesville Gol’Diggers and the Atlanta Crackers was rained out of Friday night and the two teams will play a double header on Saturday starting at 4pm eastern time with game three scheduled for Sunday.
