Lawrenceville, GA - The Sunbelt League has announced the league’s individual awards for the 2024 season.

Ricky Clayton is the Sunbelt League Coach of the Year. Coach Clayton led the Choccolocco Monsters to win the 2024 Sunbelt League Championship. “To build a team with only a month before the season started is truly amazing. He provided outstanding leadership to the Monsters both on and off the field.” commented Commissioner Todd Pratt. When asked about his favorite part of coaching the Monsters in his first year in the Sunbelt League. Coach Clayton replied, “Everything, with such a short time to put as roster together, I believe the good Lord helped put this team together. With no one knowing anyone on the staff or the roster, we all came together quickly. Every day was a pleasure for me to be around this team. Lastly, I would like to thank the Monsters General Manager Roby Brooks for giving me the opportunity to coach the Monsters.”

Kaleb Huffman of the Atlanta Crackers is the 2024 Sunbelt League Player of the Year. “Very dangerous,” when Coach Meistickle was asked about Kaleb Huffman. “Pitchers are aware of him in our line-up as he can hit a HR at any time” Huffman broke the SBL HR record by belting 13 of them during the regular season. The previous record was 8. He also drove in 37 RBI’s while batting .309. Coach Meistickle described Huffman as one of the best defensive first baseman he has seen in years. Huffman attends Coastal Carolina. “To break the HR record by 5 is very impressive. To lead a team to the Championship Series and to be on the Prospect Team that was 2-0 at Liberty University is all of the things that led him to this award”. Commissioner Pratt said about the Cracker first baseman.

Dawson Campbell is the Sunbelt League Pitcher of the Year. Dawson recorded a 3-1 record and a 1.66 ERA. Coach Clayton of the Choccolocco Monsters commented on his ace. “ Dawson led our pitching staff and just seemed to get better as the season went on.” Campbell led the SBL in innings pitched (38) and in ERA 1.66 to complete regular season. He will be pitching for Augusta State this Fall.

Avery Brown is the Sunbelt League Reliever of the Year. When Coach Clayton was asked to describe Monsters closer, he replied, “Avery Brown is a stud, and he has been solid for us all season. We would not be the SBL Champions without him closing games”  Brown will be pitching for Tom Cantrell at  the University of North Georgia this Fall.

Noah Darden is the 2024 Sunbelt League Batting Champion. Noah batted .414 during the SBL regular season for the SBL semi-finalist,  the Gainesville Gol’Diggers. Coach Blake Davis replied after being asked about his outfielder. “Noah shows up to work every day. He has a simple consistent stroke, is on balance and in his legs consistently. This allows him to use the entire field when he is at the plate.”

Sahil Patel is the Sunbelt League Strikeout Leader for the 2024 Sunbelt League regular season. The left-handed pitcher recorded 41 strikeouts in 29 innings of work and carried a 2.48 ERA.  Coach Davis of the Gainesville Gol'Diggers replied when asked about the Ohio State Buckeye. “Sahil’s fastball has late arm side life and carry, it allows him to get away with pitching at the top of the zone. He flashes a plus true curveball that compliments his fastball to allow him to attack both top and bottom of the strike zone. A confident kid and a great teammate.

Rashad Robinson is the 2024 Sunbelt League Stole Base Leader. Rashad recorded 18 stolen bases during the SBL regular season for the SBL Champions,  the Choccolocco Monsters. Coach Ricky Clayton expressed how important Rashad was in the line-up every game. “He is a scoring machine. Rashad knows his path around the bases. His goal is to score every time he gets on base and he did that many times for our ballclub.”
