Alpharetta, Ga - After taking the first game in extra innings the Aviators looked to sweep the Crackers in the race for the playoffs. Blythe Keisler got the start for the Aviators and Colt McKibben got the start for the Crackers. Divine reached first on a leadoff single before a misplayed ball in the outfield would put runners on second and third. Divine would then be driven in on a fielder’s choice that put the Crackers ahead 1-0. The Aviators would put runners aboard as well as Guilford would draw a one out walk that was followed by a single from Kloiber. However, both would be left stranded as the next two batters would go down swinging. Walton would get aboard with one out in the second, but he would be put out on a fielder’s choice that would put Roesler on base. However, he would be picked off by Keisler to end the frame. The Aviators would strike back as Burton Hahn would hit a two out solo shot to tie the game at 1 going into the third.  Kelson would reach first on a misplayed ball at first but would be thrown out while trying to steal second. Divine would reach as well by drawing a walk but fly ball to right would leave him stranded. The Aviators would get two aboard with one out on a walk by Stephens and a single from Guilford. However, Guilford would be thrown out at first before Kloiber would line out.

Anderson would get aboard with a leadoff single, but he would return to the dugout as Huffman would hit into a double play. The Aviators would then go down in order in the fourth. Atlanta would get back ahead in the fifth on back-to-back doubles from Walton and Roesler to go up 2-1. Alpharetta would have a threat of their own in the fifth as they would load the bases with two outs on singles from Hahm and Malucci and a walk from Stephens. However, a 6-5 fielder’s choice would ensure the Crackers escape unscathed. The Crackers would capitalize on this as Anderson would hit a two out solo shot to go up 3-1. The Aviators would begin to claw back as Kloiber would reach on an E4 before stealing second and then gets moved over to third as Kaiser grounds out to first. Kloiber then gets driven home on a passed ball during Schnabel’s at bat that makes it a 2-3 ballgame.

The Crackers would go down in order to start the seventh. The Aviators would then pull ahead as singles from Armstrong and Guilford along with an E6 would allow two runs to score as they go up 4-3. It wouldn’t las long however as the Crackers would draw four walks along with an E3 and a single from Huffman that would bring in four runners as Atlanta goes back up 7-4. Alpharetta would strike back quickly as Mahoney would hit a leadoff triple and then be driven home on a fielder’s choice that made it 5-7. Their comeback would be shut down as the Crackers would get 5 more free bases that would drive in two runs and fielder’s choice would bring one more in as they go up 10-5. The Aviators would start of the final frame with back-to-back strikeout, but they wouldn’t go down quietly. Stephens would then lay down a double that was followed by singles from Guilford and Kloiber to drive in two more runs. Their rally would be shutdown however, as Kaiser would strike out.

The Crackers win 10-7 and improve to 12-10 while the Aviators fall to 11-11. The Crackers will travel to Brookhaven to take on the Buck and the Aviators will travel to Waleska to take on the Wild Things this Friday.
