Nearing the end of another exciting collegiate regular season with our Waves, we’re highly anticipating another exciting summer at Old Mountain. Electrifying week ten, we’re proud to award player of the week honors to two well-deserving Waves athletes. On the mound earning Whalers Brewery Pitcher of the Week honors is Quinnipiac’s very own, Matt Alduino. On the other side of the ball winning Rienzi Pasta Player of the Week honors is Yale’s Davis Hanson. 

Recording a momentum-generating week on the mound to earn Whalers Brewery Pitcher of the Week honors is Matt Alduino, sophomore out of Quinnipiac University. In two appearances throughout week ten, the New York native put up record relief appearances. Alduino tallied two strikeouts in one inning against Central Connecticut in a midweek victory, followed by a two-inning outing with three strikeouts and no hits against Manhattan. His performance against Manhattan tallied himself season highs in strikeouts in one appearance (3) and season low of hits with none allowed. 

With a record offensive performance out of Hanson in Yale's series win over conference-rival Brown on home turf. Despite dropping the series opener, Hanson’s timely bunt brought in the first run of the day, setting the precedent for the monumental weekend he had in the Navy and White. In game two of their Saturday double-header, the Bulldogs shut out the Bears in a 7-0 victory. With the series-winning contest on the line, Hanson came in clutch with a career-best of two home runs in back-to-back at bats to seal the Bulldogs 6-1 victory. Hanson finished the weekend with six RBI’s, two home runs and five total hits, a performance well deserving of Player of the Week honors. The North Carolina native now leads the team in home runs (8), RBI’s (32), doubles (11), and slugging percentage (.536).
