MINOT, N.D. – You have to look back, way back, to find the last time the Beavers had been blown out in a hockey game. In fact, you have to look all the way to October 21st, 2012 when the Adrian College Bulldogs blew out the Beavers 8-1 in Adrian, Michigan. It was so far back, that current assistant coach Wyatt Waselenchuk was then goaltending for the Beavers. Ironically, the Beavers won their first national champion that season.

Fast forward to Thursday night, the Beavers got blown out by the visiting Jamestown Jimmies 7-3. The Beavers got off to a red-hot start scoring on the opening shift from a back door goal from senior Adam Wowyk. It seemed as though the Beavers were the ones on pace to blow the Jimmies. This clearly was not the case. The Jimmies scored three unanswered goals to take charge of first. The Beavers got one back to make it a close game to end the opening frame 3-2. This is was close as the Beavers got. The Jimmies added three more goals in the second to take a commanding 6-2 lead going into third. The teams exchanged goals in the final frame, giving the Jimmies the 7-3 victory.

Head Coach Wade Regier had this to say about the loss. “There is no excuse we were bad last night. It starts with me; I didn’t get our guys ready to go and that is on me. I think we had some complacency set in after our great weekend and took the night off. All we have here is up. We know weren’t good but we will use this as a learning experience. Anytime you take a night off against a good team, they will make you pay. We will be ready for the next one.”

There will be schedule changes coming up to end the season. Make sure to follow all social media outlets for the latest information coming.
