CHESTERFIELD, M.O. -- In what was billed as one of the best games of the tournament. The #6 Beavers and #3 Lions matchup showed every reason why these two programs are two storied powerhouses in the ACHA. The two programs have been in the final four a combine 16 times in the past decade. Each team has won two titles in that span. On Sunday afternoon, the two teams did not disappoint.

The first period was indicative of two defensive stout programs. Both teams not giving any big chances with goaltenders standing tall. The Lions did dominate the shot category 12-6. In the second, it was more of the same. Both teams exchanging power play opportunities. Again, no one could solve either goaltender. In the third, it was a different story. The Beavers finally got on the board with a loose puck rebound from junior Davis Sheldon. Three minutes later, sophomore Eric Soar was able to pinch deep and cash in on a golden opportunity to extend the lead to 2-0. The Lions would not go away. Five minutes later, they would add a big goal to make the game interesting. The final three minutes would see the two powerhouses go toe to toe. The Beavers goaltender Chad Duran would stand tall in the 2-1 victory.

The Beavers will now face the 4th ranked Liberty University Flames in the national semi finals. This will be the first ever appearance for the Flames. Game time is 7:00pm on the www.hockeytv.com website.
