MINOT, N.D. -- Whenever the the Jimmies and Beavers square off, it's always a battle....... literally. These two top programs play each other so many times out of necessity. On a figurative island in North Dakota and due to teams being reluctant to come all the way up north, these programs have to compete numerous times. The fact both programs are two of the top teams in the ACHA the games are always be tight. Saturday night we saw it all over again. Both teams skated to 57 minutes of scoreless hockey until defenseman Eric Soar netted the game winner lifting the Beavers to the 1-0 win. Tempers flared at the end of the night as was expected. These two programs respect each other, but are fierce rivals. Chad Duran made 30 saves to earn his first shut out of the season.
"These games are always tough." Said Head Coach Wade Regier "They have a good program, we have a great program and we know its going to always come down to the wire. They have great goaltending in Brouwer who give them a chance to win. We got outstanding goaltending from Duran tonight to give us a chance to win. You knew it was going to come down to the wire. I am just glad we found a way to win."
Beavers will have a quick turn around as they face Bottineau on Wednesday night 7:00pm at the Pepsi Rink.
