With the competition heating up, players in the SCCBL are producing stellar performances to help their teams in any way they can. This week’s award winners did just that, as Joey Riherd (Pacific) led the league in batting average and Colby Childs (Drury) shut down one of the hottest teams in the league.
Player of the Week – Joey Riherd, Inland Valley Pirates/University of Pacific
Joey Riherd had a successful week at the plate, helping the Pirates to a 4-2 week to move them into third on the SCCBL leaderboard. The rising junior led the league offensively, batting .692 (9-13) with a slash line of .692/.923/.778. Riherd drove in four runs, logged three doubles, and crossed home plate five times. He recorded three multi-hits games, including a 3-4 performance with three RBI in the 7-4 win over the Bulldogs.
Pitcher of the Week – Colby Childs, Riverside Bulldogs/Drury University
Earning his second weekly honor, Colby Childs dominated in the Bulldogs 5-0 win over the IV Pirates. He tossed seven scoreless innings, giving up just two hits and striking out seven to finish his week with an ERA of 0.00.
