Friday Game 2: Ottawa 8, Carleton Place 5
This was a high scoring game until the end where OJC had 3 goals in the 3rd period to win this game.
CP would go up 3-2 after allowing first goal of the game. The second would see a lot of lead changes. Devin Saumur scored twice and added 3 apples. His 2 goals came in the 2nd period. Joshua Filoso completed the hat trick after scoring in each period. Turner became a big factor as a playmaker getting 4 assists.
Carleton Place had them contained until the 3rd period. Vala, Patton, Lister, Wardman and Eckert each had goals for Carleton Place. They outshot OJC 33-22 in the game. Ottawa Canadians had 3 Power play goals while Carleton Place had four of their seven opportunities. Ryan Whitehurst made 28 saves in the win.
Saturday Game 3: F/2OT | Carleton Place 4, Ottawa 3 | OJC leads series 2-1
Once again the Ottawa Canadians score the first two goals of the game to lead 2-0. They thought they had a chance to win but CP never gave up. OJC scored their 3rd goal to make it 3-1 but went into penalty trouble and CP trailed 3-2. They would get a goal from Cameron Patton shorthanded to tie the game and send it to OT.
Reese Bolton got the game winning goal to get themselves back in the series in double OT. Patton (2G/1A) and Bolton (2G/2A) each had big performance’s in the huge win. Robbie Pickard had 1G/1A while Mateo Belanger and Zak Karim had the other goals for OJC. Vincent Bujold-Roux made 41 saves while Whitehurst made 45 saves.
Game 4 goes Tuesday night in Earl Armstrong at 7:20
Saturday Game 4: F/2OT | Perth 3, Casselman 2
This was a game that Casselman was leading after two periods 2-0. Ethan Wensink and Danyk Drouin had goals for the Vikings. Third period was different because Joey Laird became a big factor. He would score with 14:30 left to make it 2-1.
Joey Laird had his second of the game and would send it to OT. Laird had 2G/1A on the night. He had an assist on the OT winner by Shane McCrank 15 seconds into double OT. Jonathan Peacock made 33 saves while Nicholas Campbell made 32 stops. The shots were even 35-35 in the game. Vikings would have their backs up against the wall the next day which potentially could end a 4 year dynasty.
Sunday Game 5: F | Casselman 6, Perth 2 | PER leads series 3-2
It was a must win game for the Vikings to keep their season alive. They scored twice from Oliver Brunet and Danyk Drouin to have a 2-0 after one period. Casselman would be in penalty trouble because Baggio and Laird were able to capitalize on two power play goals to tie it up. Vikings weren’t going down with a fight.
Ryan Sabourin had their 3rd goal and technically the GWG. Sean David would score twice 33 seconds apart to lead 5-2. With the game in the bag, Brendan Doherty added one more for good measure to keep the series alive. Casselman outshot Perth 37-26 in the game. Cameron Scott would make his playoff debut after Peacock allowed 5 goals on 16 shots. Doherty added 2 assists to complete a 3 point night while Peters collects 2 apples.
Game 6 goes Wednesday night in Perth at 8:00.
