RECAP | CASSELMAN VIKINGS WIN FIFTH STRAIGHT LEAGUE TITLE

Carleton Place, ON – Despite Carleton Place outshooting Casselman 34-29, the Vikings were able to take a close one to have a strangle hold in the series. Both teams went 0 for 3 on the power play. In the first period CP led the shots 14-10 in a scoreless tie after one period.
The scoring began in the second period from Carter Malette just 23 seconds into the period to take a 1-0 lead. There were lots of penalties in the period which involved off-setting minors and one power play each in the second.
With Carleton Place on the merge of going down 3-1 in the series, Brad Richardson would tie it up with 10:55 left in the third to keep the game interesting. Game 4 came down to the wire and with 4:07 left, Jason Cossette scores a big goal in his career to get his team up 2-1.
Ryan Sabourin would seal it on an EN goal to have a strangle hold in the series. Sabourin would add an assist on the GWG from Cossette in a multi point game. Vikings Nicholas Campbell made 33 saves while Jacob Lavergne made 26 saves.
The Barkley Cup will be in Casselman tonight for Game five at 8:00 inside the JR Brisson Complex. Casselman is looking for their 5th straight championship and their 6th in the last seven years. Carleton Place will look to force a Game six on Saturday.
