Casselman, Ontario – The Casselman Vikings met in a very entertaining game seven Thursday, with the Vikings taking the series and advancing to the Barkley Cup after a 3-2 win over Perth. This comes after Casselman came back from a 3-1 series deficit.
This marks the seventh consecutive season that the Casselman Vikings franchise has been to the finals, going back to when they were a part of the EOJHL.
After it was tied 1-1 after one, Casselman took a 2-1 lead going into the third period when David scored his 9th of the post-season.
In the third – the Blue Wings tied it at 6:19 but Brendan Doherty answered back for the Vikings, getting the go-ahead goal with over ten minutes left. Casselman would hold on for the win and advance to the Barkley Cup (CCHL2 Final) for the third straight season and seventh if you count the EOJHL.
Casselman outshot Perth 41-30 in the game. We would like to congratulate the Vikings on their continued success and congratulate the Perth Blue Wings on a hard fought season.
Perth’s ’97 born players graduating are: Tyler Somers, Matt Knight-Bedour, David Goodwin, Shane McCrank, Marc-Andre Leblanc, Joey Laird, Colin Baggio and Suraj Bali. Congrats on wonderful Junior careers.
