RECAP | CASSELMAN VIKINGS WIN FIFTH STRAIGHT LEAGUE TITLE
Date: Apr 13, 2018
Embrun, Ontario – The Embrun Panthers became the first team in the CCHL2 Playoffs eliminated from the Quarter Finals after a 4-0 loss by the Casselman Vikings, Friday night.
Embrun was swept by the Vikings, finishing off their inaugural season as a Jr. B Hockey club.
Congratulations to their graduating players. Jeremy Barrie, Andrew Burke, Sam Tremblay, Tristian Whynot, Justin Brennan, Justin Gagnon, and Jean-Pascal Sabourin played their final junior game last night.
For the Panthers, their first season in the CCHL2 was a success according to Head Coach Darrell Campbell who came over from Metcalfe. The squad finished the season fifth in the Martin Division with a 28-20-4 record and 60 points. That got them into the playoffs and they beat the Golden Knights in three games.
Although the season is over for the Panthers, there is a bright future in the town of Embrun. They have great ties with the Ottawa Jr. Senators organization and don’t have a problem recruiting players. Next season might be a re-tooling year for them but I wouldn’t be surprised if they take some people by shock.
This season was a success for the Panthers none the less. They brought in great crowds and the community supported the team. Overall a great season.
