CCHL2 Sunday Playoff Recap
F | Ottawa 1, Alexandria 0 | Series Tied 1-1
After allowing seven goals in game 1. The Ottawa Canadians were able to bounce back and tie the series at 1. 1:24 left to go in the 1st Declan Hilton was able to get his team on the board with his first of the playoffs with assists to Devin Saumur and Joshua Filoso.
Ottawa Canadians led the way in shots in the 2nd period but couldn’t buy in a goal. Alexandria had some chances to tie the game but Whitehurst bounced back and got the saves he needed to make for his 1st career playoff Shutout. He made 23 saves in victory. Nicholas Rousseau had a good performance in net allowing 1 goal like he did on Saturday Afternoon. He made 32 saves on the day in loss.
Game 3 is Tuesday night at Earl Armstrong Arena at 7:20.
F | Renfrew 5, Carleton Place 4 | Renfrew Leads Series 1-0
Renfrew came off the bat very early. They led 4-1 at the six minute mark of the second until comeback was made by CP. Carleton Place went on to score two goals to make 4-3, then with under 5 minutes to go, Mosley tied the game. Renfrew would score with 1:52 remaining in the 3rd period to take Game 1.
CP outshot Renfrew 38-18 in the hockey game. Jack Rouleau had 2G/1A also including the GWG while Connor Noonan would added 2 helpers. Dane Brumm made 34 saves in his 3rd playoff win while Nych Paquette, Brad Benvenuti and Brandon English had the other goals for Renfrew. Mosley scores 2G/1A in 3 point effort in loss while Cameron Pratton and Eastan Eckert each added two assists. Reece Bolton and Alex Vala were the other goal scorers in the game for CP.
Game 2 goes Tuesday night at Ma-te-way Centre at 8:00.
F/OT | Perth 3, Westport 2 | Series Tied 1-1
Perth kept taking the lead in different parts of the first and second period but the game settled in OT. Marc-Andre Leblanc and Tyler Somers had the only goals for Perth while Blake Kettyle and Corey Symington became scored in the loss.
Perth would dominated the 3rd period after leading the shots 17-3 but Alex Zoutis wasn’t going to allow Perth to go home happy. Perth would keep attacking the Rideaus defensive zone and were able to end it with 3:17 left in 1st OT from Shane McCrank to tie the series. Baggio had two assists on the night. Perth outshot Westport 49-19 in the game while Alex Zoutis made 46 saves in a stellar performance.
Game 3 goes Wednesday night at Westport Arena at 8:00.
F | Casselman 8, Embrun 0 | Casselman leads Series 1-0
This was a game nobody expected to start the series. It was pure domination by the Vikings all game and Embrun just couldn’t get anything going. Sebastien Plante (2G, 2A) and Brendan Doherty (1G, 3A) each had big 4 point nights en-route to a Game 1 victory.
Floodgates were wide open when Joel Hunt made it 4-0 forcing Jean-Sebastien Sabourin to be pulled after allowing 4 goals on 17 shots. Gratton came in to make his playoff debut as a Panther. Gratton would allow 4 goals in the final 30 minutes of the game on 28 shots. Carter Malette would score twice while Ethan Wensink added two assists on the night. Nicholas Campbell made 24 saves for his 1st career playoff shutout in tier 2. Casselman outshot Embrun 45-26 in the game.
Game 2 goes Tuesday night at Embrun Arena at 8:30.
