Out with the old, in with the new

The original scoreboard donated by Dwain Gibson nearly 40 years ago saw it's final game at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.  In it's place now sits an inning by inning LED model. Spenard Builders Supply and Steelhead Industrial helped the Oilers remove the old scoreboard and mount the new one this Saturday while the team was on the road.  Oilers President, Michael Tice, patiently coordinated the installation of the new scoreboard, which was shipped over a month ago and has been sitting in storage awaiting this day.  In his down time from maintaining the field, John Kennedy connected the 6 pieces into two halves that were then lifted into place by the SBS crane.  Dan Schmidt, owner of Steelhead Industrial and a frequent visitor to the ballpark, and his crew eagerly stepped up to lend a hand.  Dan prepped the steel bracing and welded the scoreboard into place. A huge thank you goes out to the Oilers Baseball Booster Club! Other sponsors to help with the project were Airport Equipment Rental, Morgan Steel and Big G Electric.
