Derek Foote Leaves The Oilers
Date: May 7, 2024
Kyle Brown returns to the Oilers for the 2020 season as General Manager. Kyle began his tenure with the Oilers as a pitching coach back in 2017 followed by two years as head coach. Though his roots come from southern California, Kyle is right at home in Alaska. He has a heart for baseball but we think it's the fishing bug that keeps bringing him back! The combination of the Kenai River and Mt. Redoubt views worked their magic and we are pleased to have him on the Oilers staff. Kyle is not ready to call Alaska his home year round but he'll be making frequent trips to spend more time on the Peninsula and get to know our sponsors and our community in the off season, when he's not so focused on baseball. One of his goals this spring is to organize a coaching clinic. The Oilers mission is to promote baseball throughout the Peninsula beyond just being a spectator sport. By holding coaching clinics, local coaches will learn drills to develop baseball skills that they can then impart to our local youth even when the Oilers aren’t here. In addition to the Little League clinics the Oilers participate in every year, Kyle would also like to add advanced skills clinics to give more concentrated skills in a smaller group setting.
