The OC Surf became the second team to clinch a playoff spot in the Sunset Baseball League on Wednesday night after a doubleheader sweep of the Inland Valley Pirates.

The Surf won Game 1 by a score of 15-0 thanks to two six-run innings.

Bo Coolen was a cool customer belting in five RBI and also scoring twice in the game.

Reigning SBL player of the week Phil Steering continued his tear ripping in two RBI.

Alex Dimascio scored three times. Andris Rizquez knocked in two and scored twice. Luke Hussung, Andrew Ramos and Brett Thompson each scored twice.

Game 2 was much closer as the Surf won 2-1.

The Pirates grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Jake Bryant, but the Surf answered in the top of the fourth.

Rizquez cranked a two-run triple to left center field and that was all the Surf would need as Louis Corral held the Pirates to only three hits for the entire game in seven innings of work.

The Surf take on the Cardinals on Thursday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona in a battle for first place. The Cardinals would clinch the number one seed with a win, but the Surf would take first place due to head-to-head victories if they emerged victorious.
