Sparrows Newest Addition to SBL
Date: Nov 26, 2016
The Sunset Baseball League is proud to announce the inaugural recipients of the Player of the Week awards.
Each week from now until the end of the season, a hitter and pitcher will be acknowledged as the hitter and pitcher of the week.
The first ever pitcher of the week is Kit Larson (Cardinals). Larson currently attends North Carolina State University and was lights out on the mound during the past week hurling nine shutout innings, while only allowings four hits and one walk. Larson struck out seven in his nine innings of work.
The SBL has decided to honor two players this week as co-hitters of the week: Reese Berberet (Oilers) and Luke Hussung (Surf).
Berberet has solidified the cleanup spot in Signal Hill's lineup and struck fear into opposing pitchers last week finishing 8-for-15 with two home runs, seven RBI and five runs scored.
Luke Hussung's week was equally impressive as the Concordia standout was instrumental in the Surf's recent hot streak where they won five of their past six games. Hussung went 9-for-16 with one homer and four doubles. He also scored five runs and ripped two RBI during the course of the week.
We will determine our second set of players of the week next Monday.
