Outlaws Drop Opening Night to the Wolves

Date:  Source: NPHL Tri-City Outlaws

KENNEWICK, WA - The Outlaws had their chances but couldn't get it done against the Wenatchee Wolves in the opening game for both teams on Friday night at the Toyota Arena.

Tri-City (0-1-0-0, 0 pts) was forced to play most of the game in their end and veteran goaltender Stephen Hunter played great but wasn't able to get much goal support.  Hunter saved 42 of the 46 shots that he faced in a losing effort.

Wenatchee (1-0-0-0, 2 pts) did a great job of keeping pressure on the Outlaws all night long and Max Flynn did a great job of saving 22 of the 23 shots that he faced.

In the first period the Wolves were able to strike first thanks to Denton Hymer at the 11:00 mark.  The Outlaws had a great chance to tie it up when Joshua Chamberlain took an unsportsmanlike penalty with four minutes left to go in the period but they weren't able to get the puck past Flynn.

Coming into the second period the Outlaws knew they had to get the next goal and who better to do it than last season's team leader in points, Aaron Questad.  Questad would deflect a Nick Gay shot from the point to knot the game at 1.  Two minutes later the Wolves' would strike back and regain their one goal lead when Andrew Lee would score just over halfway through the period.  The Outlaws defenseman Sheldon O'Neill would then get called for a kneeing penatly and that would be all the Wolves needed to increase their lead to two.  The Wolves' defenseman Connor Dunn would get the power play goal with assists to Andrew Lee and Hunter Alden.  The Outlaws would try and get some rest in the second intermission to come back and put up a fight in the third.

In the third period both teams were trying to get the next crucial goal which would either put the Outlaws back in the game or would push Wenatchee closer to their franchise's first win.  Five minutes into the period Ty Flynn would do just that for Wenatchee to seal the clubs first win.  The Outlaws had great chances later on in the period with two "Fix Vapor Cafe" Power Plays but weren't able to connect on those chances.

The Outlaws now shift their focus to traveling up to Wenatchee tomorrow to try and gain revenge on the Wolves in their home opener.  Fans can tune into FASTHOCKEY.COM for all the action.
