Butler earns hard-fought 1-0 win over Bethel Park

Butler beat Bethel Park 1-0 in a game that featured tenacious defense, solid goalkeeping and a winning score from Sam Gross.

Jonathan Fair assisted on the winning goal.

Butler's penalty kill excelled, as Butler gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Butler was sparked by Gross, who had one goal. Gross scored on the power play 5:54 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Butler. Butler had taken the advantage when Bethel Park's Evan Oakley got sent off for cross checking. Fair assisted on the tally.

Butler stifled Bethel Park's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Butler's offense operated below its season average. Butler puts an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. Bethel Park was unable to stop Butler from sending pucks towards the net, and Butler eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.
