Gross' goals lift Butler to 6-2 victory over Canon-McMillan

Sam Gross had two goals to lead Butler to a 6-2 victory over Canon-McMillan.

Gross' tallies came on the power play at 6:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 2:55 into the third to make the score 3-2 Butler.

Butler's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Canon-McMillan power plays. Butler's offense rang up 41 shots on Canon-McMillan's net.

Butler also got points from Connor Scott, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Butler also had goals scored by Cameron Barto, Brendan Ackelson, and Ben Rodgers, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Butler were Trevor Gilliland, who had three and Jonathan Fair and Colin Brady, who each chipped in one.

Canon-McMillan was helped by Vincent Lavorgna, who finished with one goal. Lavorgna scored 3:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Canon-McMillan. Christian Stewart picked up the assist. Jack Clendaniel also scored for Canon-McMillan. In addition, Canon-McMillan received assists from Jay Oravetz, Austin Czartorski, and Lucas Lavella, who contributed one each.

Zachary Schnur made 19 saves for Butler on 21 shots. Butler incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Canon-McMillan's Conor Hartnett stopped 35 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Canon-McMillan incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
