North Allegheny outlasts Butler, 5-4

North Allegheny and Butler were evenly matched throughout their contest, but North Allegheny made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-4.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Joseph Zappia at 5:45 of the third period.

John Parks and Dawson Richard provided the spark for North Allegheny, combining for four goals and one assist. Parks registered two goals and one assist and Richard also added two goals.

North Allegheny could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Other players who recorded assists for North Allegheny were Cameron Sunseri, who had one and William Carr and Erik Chidester, who each chipped in two.

Butler was led by Trevor Gilliland, who tallied two goals and one assist. Gilliland scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:41 into the first period to make the score 2-1 North Allegheny. Butler earned a power play opportunity when Richard was put in the box for holding. Cameron Barto assisted on the tally. Gilliland's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 10:47 left in the second period. Butler had gotten the advantage when North Allegheny's Steven Dietz was sent off for roughing. Connor Scott picked up the assist. Butler also had goals scored by Brendan Ackelson and Ben Rodgers, who scored one goal each. In addition, Butler received assists from Jonathan Fair, who had two.

Joseph Hubert made 26 saves for North Allegheny on 30 shots. North Allegheny registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Jacob Curry rejected 16 shots on goal for Butler. Butler incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
