Date: Oct 25, 2014

The Seattle Impact FC have announced the signing of the team’s first midfielder, Micah Wenzel. Born in Federal Way and a former Bellarmine Prep High School attendee, Wenzel also attended the University of Puget Sound where he was a member of the school’s 2006 collegiate team. Wenzel does not lack any experience in either indoor and outdoor soccer, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.
Wenzel played for indoor soccer teams in Tacoma from 2007 to 2013. During his three-year stint with the Tacoma Stars’ Semi Pro team, Wenzel helped the Stars win the 2010 national championship by notably scoring 5 goals in the five-game tournament along with posting a goal and an assist in the final game. While being a member of the Tacoma Stars Pro team from 2010 to 2012, Wenzel scored double digit goals in each season. In 2013, Wenzel was a member of the Tacoma Galaxy where he served as the team’s captain.
In terms of outdoor soccer, Wenzel also has a multitude of valuable experiences that he brings to the table. Wenzel played for the Tacoma Tide for four years before playing for the Seattle Sounders U-23 squad in 2012. During the last two years, Wenzel was a member of EPLWA’s South Sound FC where he was team captain and also player coach at a point in time. In this same two year period, Wenzel has also been an assistant coach for Pierce College’s men’s soccer team.
Wenzel is very excited and determined to begin this new chapter in his life. “I think this is an opportunity that many players in this area would relish and so I am going to do everything possible to make the most of this chance,” Wenzel said. “There is a lot of quality in this area as far as indoor soccer players go so I can’t wait to get everyone together and get on the same page as the season approaches.”
