The Stevenson Patriots Hockey Club is having a great year.  Led by Head Coach Tom Wood, the team is ranked #3 in the state with a current record of 45-12-2.  Playing a big part in the success is Senior Left winger Trevor Hilt.  Trevor has accumulated 91 points in just 59 games.

While Trevor's focus is solidly on winning a State Championship with the Patriot's this season, he also has his sight set on his future.  Trevor has decided to commit to attending Illinois State University in the Fall of 2018.  "I choose ISU for a couple different reasons, the first was that I was really impressed with the Business program at Illinois State.  Secondly, I think that the size of the school and the campus life at ISU are a very good fit for me also."  stated Hilt who plans on studying Business Administration.

He wanted to find the right hockey program.  "When I came down to campus last Spring for the prospect skate, I was able to meet some of the incoming players as well as some current players and they all seemed to go out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable there.  Another big reason that I am excited to be joining the program is the fact that with both a DI and DII team, I'll have an opportunity to improve as a hockey player with a program that plays at such a high level."  Illinois State is only one of three ACHA DI hockey programs in the state.

In announcing his commitment, Trevor was also thinking about everyone that helped him along the way to get him to this point.  "I'd really like to thank my parents for always being there when I was younger to take me to my games and practice's and for always cheering me on and believing in me.  I'd also like to thank all of my coaches who helped teach me the right way to play the game and for helping to push me to get better."

"I had been speaking to Trevor and his family for nearly a year if not more.  He came down to our prospect skates last spring and really stood out.  We were able to follow his season and get to see him play.  We knew on the ice he would be able to make that jump and produce.  However, what impressed us most was what we observed and the feedback we received from Coach Tom Wood about Trevor's character and work ethic,  Coach Wood has many outstanding players on the team we are impressed with.  Coach Wood also played at the ACHA DI level and understands the talent and commitment needed to compete at our level.  That means a lot." stated Coach Michael Hernbrott, Head Coach of the DII team.

Coach Bobby DiNardi, Head Coach of the DI team added "The amount of production Trevor has had this season opens your eyes to the possibility of him developing quickly within our program."
