Welcome to the Redbirds, Sean Meyer!
Date: Jul 17, 2020

The Illinois State Redbirds welcome Tony Campise to the family! Campise, 6’ 190lb forward hails from Aurora, IL. Last season, for the Geneva Cyclones, he led all scorers for a new league record in CSDHL with 56 points in 30 games. He doubled up with the Waubonsie Valley to put in 52 points in 27 games.
Campise joins the Redbirds following his successful season with the Cyclones. He chose Illinois State University because campus is very nice and the quad had a great college feel to it. He intends to major in Criminal justice, a popular major in the organization. His favorite coaches were Coach Breslin & Lappin for their selfless attitude and desire to make each player the best they can be. “My biggest supporter has been my Dad. He has pushed me beyond great measures and shared parts of the game I’ve never seen before. He’s been a great role model on and off the ice for all of our family”, said Campise.
Campise’s favorite hockey memories have been going to State Championships in both High School and CSDHL. If he could be any animal, he would be a Tasmanian Devil, because “I’m always moving as fast as I can”. He most looks forward to playing hockey for Illinois State University with old friends, creating new ones, and a quality education. He will bring his sister Torre to the Redbird fan club. Moms homemade pasta and meatballs are his favorite meal! He shares that his dance moves will get the whole team ready for the game!
“Tony has been a player we’ve kept tabs on all season. He’s a powerful skater and has a big frame to work with and he can fill a role that we were missing last season. He will be able to contribute immediately. We’re excited to see Tony grow as a Redbird.” -D1 Head Coach Bobby DiNardi.
The Redbirds are building to make a run at their first ACHA D1 conference title in 2020-2021, as they play their second season in the Midwest College Hockey conference. For more information on the conference, click here.
