BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Muskegon got goals from five different players to top Bloomington 5-2 and spoil the Thunder’s season finale on Saturday night.

In front of a crowd of 2,438 at the Bloomington Coliseum, the Thunder had goals from Walker Duehr (Minnesota State Mankato) and Calen Kiefiuk (University of Michigan) but allowed the first five goals of the game and couldn’t overcome the deficit with a third period push.

Duehr got the Thunder (24-26-5-3, 58 pts) on the board near the midway point of the third period with his 15th goal of the season. After collecting a centering pass from Cameron Burke (University of Notre Dame) in the low slot, Duehr pivoted and banked his shot off of Muskegon netminder Adam Brizala to trim into the deficit.

Only three minutes later, Kiefiuk doubled the Thunder goal total with his fourth goal of his rookie campaign. Playing in his last game with Bloomington, Sean Harrison (Union College) set up the goal with a centering feed from the edge of the left circle. Kiefiuk slammed the pass home to make it 5-2 at the 14:55 mark of the third period.

But that was all the closer the Thunder could get despite doubling up the Lumberjacks (37-18-3-2, 79 pts) in shots on goal. Brizgala made 40 saves on 42 shots to hold Bloomington’s offense at bay.

Prior to the game, Thunder goaltender Logan Halladay (Merrimack College) presented a check for $6,120 to the Global Down Syndrome Foundation. That money was raised through a season-long campaign centered on Halladay’s goaltender mask that was dedicated to Down syndrome awareness.
