Rangers Beat Falcons in Walk-Off Style For Their 3rd Win in a Row 3-2

Rangers win another 1-run game to earn their 3rd victory in a row. Jordan Whitmire (Cleveland State) of the Falcons got off to a great start Friday, rendering only 1 hit and 6 K’s through 5 innings. The Falcons would score 2 runs in the 3rd inning off RBI singles from Nathan Geiger (College of Central Florida) and Lance Mansfield (Florida Memorial Univ.). Those would end up being the only runs scored for by the Falcons. Kevin Vlatos (Webber Intl. Univ.) came into pitch in relief for Whitmire and allowed 2 runs in the 6th inning from an RBI single from Matthew Majewski (Northwood Univ.) and an RBI triple from Shane Swanson (Daytone State College) to tie the game at 2-2. The game would stay tied up until the bottom of the 8th, when Lorenzo Boden (Embry Riddle Aero. Univ.) drove in the game-winning run to give the Rangers the win, 3-2. Zach Bailey (South Fla. St. College) and Kyle Kalbaugh (St. Johns River State) combined for 5 innings in relief for the Rangers, giving up 1 hit and striking out 6 batters.

Mustangs Defeat Mavericks 4-1 Behind Great Pitching

Mustangs scored 2 early runs in the 1st inning after a couple of walks and an error by the Mavs defense. Mavs starter, Jake Gangelhoff (College of Central Florida) would settle in finishing with 3 runs, 3 K’s and 2 hits through 3 and 1/3 innings. Mustangs scored 2 more runs in the 4th inning to increase their lead to 4-0 after RBI singles from Ryan Maxon (Embry Riddle Aero. Univ.) and Kyle Scott (Daytona State College). The real story of the day belonged to the Mustangs pitching, as Thomas Roberts lead the way with 5 innings pitched, striking out 3 batters and only giving up 1 run. Tyler Mills came in next and only allowed 1 hit in 1 and 2/3 innings and Nate Werner (Concord Univ.) closed the game, striking out the last batter for the final out. Zach Cahill (school) drove in the only run for the Mavs with an RBI double and Matt Picucci (Hillsborough C.C.) pitched very well in relief, throwing 3 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run and striking out 8 Mustang batters.
