Opening Night Games Rained Out

The Flying Falcons Win Their 5th Straight Game, as They Beat the Mustangs, 6-2.
The falcons didn’t waste anytime getting off to an early 3-0 lead in the 1st inning, thanks to a 2 RBI triple from Hunter Brannan (Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C.) and an RBI double from Sjaghbar Martis (Monroe C.C.). The Stangs were able to respond with 2 runs of their own after Arturo Tabales (Polk St. C.C.) drove in a run in the 1st inning and Matt Saliba (Daytona St. C.C.) knocked in 1 more in the 2nd inning. Lance Mansfield (Fla. Memorial Univ.) lead things off, with a double for the Falcons in the 3rd inning, followed by an RBI from Evan Speicher (Cleveland St. C.C.), Brannan and Martis to increase the lead to 6-2. Branna finished the day with 2 hits and 3 RBI and Martis went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI. The Falcons starter Jordan Whitmire (Cleveland St. C.C.) collected the win, throwing 5 innings with 6 K’s 2 BB and 5 hits. Thomas Roberts, the Stangs starter, gave up all 6 runs through 3 innings, and was relieved by Ryan Bargery (Dyersburg St. C.C.) who threw 3 scoreless innings, followed by 1 scoreless inning from Pat Thompson (Concord Univ.).
Mavs and Rangers End in a 4-4 Tie.
Dylan Demarest (Embry Riddle) took the mound for the Mavs in their matchup against the Rangers and their starter, Kyle Kalbaugh (St. Johns River St.). Early on in the game, runs were hard to come by until the Mavs scored the 1st run in the 2nd inning off a Zach Cahill (Shasta College) single that drove in Luke Miller (ABAC). Hagen WIlkey (Cleveland St. C.C.) tied things up in the 4th inning with an RBI single that drove in Shane Swanson (Daytona St. C.C.). Kalbaugh would allow 1 more run in the 5th inning and then left the game finishing with 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 BB and 8 K’s. The Rangers came back to tie the game at 2-2 in the 6th inning, thanks to an RBI single from Jammer Strickland (Cleveland St. C.C.). The game would then go into extras due to a 2-2 tie at the end of 7 innings. The Mavs were able to score 2 runs in the top half of the 8th inning from an error by the 3rd baseman and a single from Mason Eng (Grayson C.C.). The Rangers would come right back in the bottom half and score 2 runs of their own, from RBI’s off Evan Barne’s (Sante Fe College) and Jeff Stabe’s (Warner Univ) bat. Mavs starter Dylan Demarest finished with 8 complete innings, 4 ER and 5 K’s. The game ended in a tie, 4-4.
