Mavericks Fall to Red-Hot Mustangs 10-4

            The Mustangs continue to find a way to win as they beat the Mavs 10-4. The Stangs offense got the bats swinging early with 2 runs in the 1st inning and 5 runs in the 2nd inning. Arturo Tabales (Polk State) drove in 1 RBI in each of those innings, with a sac fly in the 1st and a single in the 2nd. Shawn Feltner (North West Florida State) also knocked in 2 RBI in the 2nd and finished with 3 RBI and 2 hits on the day. The Mavs scored 1 run in the first 2 innings but struggled to keep up after the Stangs 5 run 2nd inning. Pat Thompson (Concord University) had another solid outing for the Stangs, throwing 5 and 1/3 innings and allowing 4 runs, followed by a relief appearance from Jordan Edmonds (Great Britain). The Mavs Luke Miller (Abraham Baldwin Agr. College) and Ryan Hagy (State College of Florida) both finished the day with 2 hits and 1 RBI.

Rangers Breakout of Slump and Win 4-1 Over Falcons

            The Rangers get a much needed win over the Falcons behind a stellar pitching performance from Kyle Kalbaugh (St. Johns River State). Kalbaugh pitched a complete game going 7 innings, recording 6 strikeouts and only allowing 4 hits. The Rangers scored 2 runs in the 4th inning from a single hit by Shane Swanson (Daytona State College) and a double from Cosimo Cannella (Des Moines Area C.C.). They would then tack on 2 more runs in the 7th inning from a Hagen Wilkey (Cleveland State) double and a base hit from Lorenzo Boden (Embry Riddle Aero. Univ.). The Falcons also had a solid outing from Kevin Vlatos (Webber Int. Univ.) who only allowed 4 hits through 6 innings, but wasn’t enough to stop the Rangers from getting the win.
