HC Merano Junior beats HC Eppan Appiano Sarah 3-2 after comeback scare

The HC Eppan Appiano Sarah Pirates tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the HC Merano Junior Adler held on for a 3-2 victory.

HC Merano Junior took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have HC Eppan Appiano Sarah storm back on a David Ceresa goal 16:16 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Adler were led by Thomas Mitterer, who grabbed one goal. Mitterer scored 14:25 into the third period to make the score HC Merano Junior. Michele Ciresa assisted on the tally.

HC Merano Junior also got points from Ciresa, who also registered one goal and one assist. HC Merano Junior also got a goal from Daniel Rizzi as well. In addition, HC Merano Junior received assists from Taggart Desmet, who had two and Jan Mair, Viktor Wallin, and Riccardo Tombolato, who contributed one a piece.

The Pirates struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

HC Eppan Appiano Sarah was led by Tobias Ebner, who finished with one goal and one assist. Ebner scored 19:29 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jake Newton provided the assist. More assists for HC Eppan Appiano Sarah came via Daniel Peruzzo and Matthias Eisenstecken, who each chipped in one.

Vincenzo Marozzi rejected 56 shots on goal for HC Merano Junior. The Adler incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mark Demetz recorded 12 saves for the Pirates. HC Eppan Appiano Sarah registered two goals on five power play opportunities.
