Brampton A's Sign Their First Player: Canadian Evaldas Zabas

Date:  Source: DISABLED National Basketball League of Canada

The Lithuanian born player moved to Canada when he was 15 years old and led all GTA Schools in scoring his senior year with a 40 ppg average.  Since turning pro directly out of high school Zabas brings a decorated 7-year playing resume to The A’s.  Coming off another successful year in the Czech Republic, the 6’2” 195 lb point guard looks to make an immediate on court impact as he has advanced a playing level every year of his career.

The A’s are thrilled to have him, “We have been training Ev at our Athlete Institute facility for the past four summers and have seen amazing growth as a player, athlete, and person,” said Head Coach David Magley, “When we decided to start an NBL franchise he was the first player we put on our list of guys to get.  He is an amazing leader who has been a success at every level of professional basketball and the fact that he is Canadian is an even better coincidence.”

Zabas is equally excited to be back in Canada and playing in front of a home crowd, “I have spent 7 years away from my family and an opportunity to come home and have them come to games is truly a thrill for me.  I have been with the AI folks for 4 years and they are like family as well.”

As for his personal and team goals they are simple “I want to win a championship and be in a position to play at the highest level possible when the season is done, including the NBA.”

The Brampton A’s will be starting their season on November 1st and play in the Brampton Powerade Centre.
