Storm Signs Toronto's Ashton Graham
Charlottetown - Sept 23/13
A second Canadian player has been added to the Storm's roster, pending FIBA clearance.
Toronto native Ashton Graham will make his professional basketball debut with the Storm when they open training camp on PEI in mid-October.
The 6'4". 210 lbs Shooting Guard was a 2-year starter at the University of Tampa, averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 32.6 minutes per game in his senior year. The University of Tampa plays in the SCC, the same conference in which current Storm Shooting Guard Greg Plummer played his college ball for Eckerd University.
Graham scored a career-high 32 points against Florida Southern in February 2012. He we went on to lead the team in minutes played, points and rebounds per game, steals, and Free Throw attempts in his senior year. Graham also played one year collegiately at Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire.
Storm Head Coach Joe Salerno says he expects Graham will be able to adjust his game to fit in with the NBLC.
"Ashton was a great find for us while I was attending a pro-am tournament in Tampa this past June. He is extremely athletic, and can really be an explosive scorer. I think Ashton has the physical size and skill level to play at the professional level. Ashton could really be a nice surprise for us this season."
The Storm will be holding two intra-squad games during training camp, and one home exhibition game at UPEI.
The Storm's regular season kicks off Saturday, November 2 at 7pm with a game at Charlottetown's Eastlink Centre when they host the Saint John Mill Rats.
