Coach Collins expressed, "Coach Grannum is a great coach and a great motivator. He engages the players and gets the most out of their talents. Fred was a great asset in keeping with our strong tradition of winning at Humber and will be sadly missed. The Humber family's loss is the Mississauga Power's gain."
Coach Grannum recently assisted preparing the Power Canadian Development Team (PCDT), which travelled to China for the “Four Nationals Invitational Tournament” and he was also the Head Coach at the Power Pro-Am Summer League. During the past four years, Coach Grannum also was a Camp and Team Coach at the All Canada Prospect Camp and Head Coach at Havergal College.
Grannum plans on leveraging his expertise and experiences working with the Toronto Raptors and FIBA. Grannum has helped promote the Toronto Raptors throughout their 1994-1996 inaugural seasons as well as the 1994 World Championship of Basketball.
Roy Rana, Head Coach of Team Canada's Junior Men's Team and Ryerson University expressed: "The Mississauga Power have hired a technically sound character coach who will inspire more than just his team. He is a leader in the Mississauga community and will make a significant impact on the court and beyond."
Coach Grannum states that he will be "utilizing an 'open-door' policy with players, coaches and organization staff [and will] work to develop players providing them with every opportunity to reach their potential". Grannum's philosophy is that "treating players fairly with respect and dignity results in team play with enthusiasm and success both on and off the court".
Coach Grannum will bring a deep knowledge of CIS, NCAA, NBA & European offensive and defensive systems to the Power. Under his leadership, Mississauga will become one of the top teams of the National Basketball League of Canada both on and off the court. Coach Grannum will lead the charge as the team will begin their first season at the Hershey Centre in November.
