Addition of George Completes Forward Line
Date: May 6, 2013
Jamestown, NY - In game one of this best-of-five series, the Jamestown Ironmen earned a commanding 7-1 victory of the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings. The second game was a much closer contest, but, unfortunately for Kalamazoo, the result was the same. The Ironmen defeated the Jr. K-Wings by the score of 3-1 to take a 2-0 series lead.
The first period on Saturday afternoon could not have been any more different than the first period of game one. Kalamazoo did not allow Jamestown to score, and they were also able to put one on the board. At 7:54, Christian George found Danny Hamburg (2nd) right outside of the crease, and Hamburg was able to put Kalamazoo up 1-0. This would be the score at the first intermission.
The Ironmen would be able to tie the contest up in a very chippy second period. Victor Johansson (1st) went top shelf on a wraparound goal at 15:07 that evened the score at one goal apiece at the second intermission.
Early in the third period, Jamestown was able to finally break their power play drought when Tyler Doucet (2nd) was able to drive one home at 5:51 and give Jamestown the 2-1 lead.
At 13:56, Nicholas Sierra (1st) scored on a breakaway to give the Ironmen the commanding 3-1 lead. This would prove to be more than enough scoring as Joey Ballmer was relentless in net and failed to yield any more goals.
