DUE-BOJE NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Goaltender honored by NAHL

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announce that goalie Marcus Due-Boje has been named Combat Hockey’s NAHL North Division Player of the Week for the week ending February 10th.

The Jr. K-Wings had another busy week, as they skated three times in three straight days. Due-Boje got the nod on Friday night against the Michigan Warriors, and in the process, picked up a season-high 46 save shutout. It was his first career NAHL shutout, as he helped lead Kalamazoo to a 3-0 victory.

The 19-year-old was given the day off following his 46 save effort, as his team skated to a thrilling   6-5 overtime victory against the Springfield Jr. Blues.

The Stockholm, Sweden native, who came over to Kalamazoo in late October, was able to follow up his first career shutout with yet another perfect performance, as he was able to blank the Jr. Blues with a 33 save shutout, using the support of an explosive Kalamazoo offense which was able to put home 7 goals. His weekend totals were an eye-popping 2-0, with 79 saves, a GAA of 0.00 and a save percentage of 1.000.

Since joining Kalamazoo, Due-Boje has been sensational between the pipes.  In 16 games on the season, he has posted a record of 10-4-2, while allowing just 2.34 goals against per game, and posting a save percentage of .935, both of which lead the Jr. K-Wings. His spectacular save percentage is good enough to leave him tied for second among all NAHL goalies.

"Marcus is a fundamentally sound goalie and very calm in net,” said Kalamazoo head coach Marc Fakler.  “Marcus has come back from injury playing the best hockey he has all season.  The team has a lot of confidence in both of our goalies.  Both can get it done, so we don’t worry so much who starts.”

Due-Boje wasn't the only member of the Jr. K-Wings who had an explosive weekend. Danny Hamburg was the second star of the week, as he was able to pocket five points during the three Kalamazoo wins. He started his weekend with a one-goal effort in Michigan on Friday night, followed that up with a one goal, one assist afternoon on Saturday, and finally capped off the weekend with a two assist effort on Sunday. At the end of the three game stretch, Hamburg was able to tally two goals, and three assists for five total points. He was able to compliment those with a plus-2 rating and 16 PIMs.

The Jr. K-Wings will take the ice again on Saturday, February 16th, at 2:00 pm, as they take on the Janesville Jets in the first of two straight at the Borgess Health Rink inside Wings West.
