Mill Rats Drop Road Game in Moncton

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats presented by Rogers, dropped their away game on Sunday afternoon against the Moncton Miracles with a final score of 105-116 at the Moncton Coliseum. 

 

The Mill Rats were able to maintain a steady lead in the first quarter, ending it 23-18. 


The second quarter, Saint John turned up the heat, outscoring the Miracles 42-30. A three from Miracles' Matt Robertson was answered by a three from Jerice Crouch to end the half, with the Mill Rats leading 65-48. Anthony Anderson played a huge half contributing 21 points alone while Crouch had 18. 

 

In the third quarter, the Mill Rats lost their momentum as the Miracles turned around and outscored the Mill Rats, 36-12. Three minutes into the third, they closed the Mill Rats lead to 9 points and with 3:47 on the clock, they took their second lead of the game, 72-74. 

 

Moncton closed the third ahead of the Mill Rats 77-84. 

 

The Mill Rats battled back in the fourth with the help of a dunk from Cavell Johnson, 3 minutes into play, closing the gap to 84-88. The Miracles did not give up their lead and held off the Mill Rats, closing the game 105-116. 

 

Leading scorers for the Mill Rats were Anthony Anderson with 28, Jerice Crouch with 27 and Steve Deluca with 14. Anderson also netted a double double adding 10 assists. 

 

The Miracles were led by Devin Sweetney with 36 and Darrell Wonge with 23 points. 

 

The Mill Rats fall to 11-13 on the season while the Miracles rise to 12-15. 

 

The Mill Rats are back next week with some double header action! 

 

On Thursday night, Jan. 17th, the Mill Rats host the Summerside Storm at 7pm. KVHS and Moncton High School will also be playing a regular season high school game at 4pm. Upperbowl student tickets are available with a valid student ID for only $5.25 plus the box office fee. 

 

The Mill Rats host the Oshawa Power on Friday, Jan. 18th at 7pm. The game theme is School Spirit night and student tickets are also being offered for the upperbowl with a valid student ID for only $5.25 plus the box office fee. 

 

Tickets are available at the Harbour Station Box Office or at the Mill Rats Fan Zone located in Brunswick Square. 

 

Pro-rated season ticket packages, BOGO's, flex packs and more are still available at the Mill Rats Fan Zone located in Brunswick Square on the second level, or at the Harbour Station Box Office.
