2025 NECBL Most Improved Player: Randy Seymour

Date:  Source: NECBL Newport Gulls

The NECBL announced today that second-year Newport Gull Randy Seymour (Michigan State) has been named the league’s Most Improved Player for the 2025 season. Seymour becomes just the fifth Gull to earn this honor and the first since Aaron Westlake in 2009.

Seymour’s growth has been evident since his arrival in Newport. Last season, he was named an NECBL All-Star and earned All-NECBL Second Team honors while helping lead the Gulls to a championship repeat, batting .250 in the postseason.

This year, Seymour once again earned All-Star recognition and took significant strides in his game, improving in nearly every offensive category. He posted a .296 batting average, a .773 OPS, belted four home runs, and drove in 29 RBIs—all career highs in summer ball.

Beyond the numbers, Seymour was a key leader in the Gulls clubhouse, setting the tone on and off the field. While the postseason didn’t end with another title, his contributions were central to Newport’s success in 2025.

Seymour now heads into his senior season with Michigan State carrying a .260 career average through 116 collegiate games, ready to build on his impressive summer.
