Other 7/16 Games: Breakers Hold Second Place on Houghton’s Pitching Performance at South Shore

Southampton 4, South Shore 0

 

The Southampton Breakers shut out the South Shore Clippers by a score of 4-0 at William Floyd High School on Wednesday.

 

Andrew Houghton (Cornell) pitched six shutout innings with five strikeouts and three walks as he earned his third win of the season.

 

Patrick Gozdan (West Chester) went 2-for-3 for the Breakers in the win with a pair of RBI. Sean Sweeney (Binghamton) stole three bases, raising his total on the season to 20.

 

The win gives the Breakers a two-point lead over third-place Sag Harbor for the two seed in the HCBL playoff picture.


 

Shelter Island 11, Westhampton 0

 

The Shelter Island Bucks defeated the Westhampton Aviators on Wednesday in Bridgehampton by a final score of 11-0 in five innings.

 

John Gannon (St. Lawrence) had a pair of hits in the win for the Bucks with three RBI. Gannon now has a total of 24 RBI for the season. Gibby Sullivan (Bates) went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI in the win.


Dylan Joseph (RIT) pitched a five-inning complete game for the Bucks in the win, only allowing three hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
